Below are the scores on this test as reported by candidates of I.Q. Tests for the High Range; the Cattell Verbal was long used as a Mensa admission test in English-speaking countries like the United States and United Kingdom, and reputedly had its scores expressed on a scale with a standard deviation of 24. In actuality, the scores behave rather non-linearly, as if the standard deviation shrinks above 148 (the Mensa pass level). This may be due to psychologists being reluctant to report those high "I.Q." numbers and making artificial ceilings. Also, in the United Kingdom the ceiling was apparently much lower (163) than in the United States (196 or so).
